The Energy Conservation Act 2001 The Energy Conservation Act 2001 (Act No. 52 of 2001) was enacted by the Govt of India and later on amended as The Energy Conservation (Amendment)Act 2010 (Act No 28 of 2010) in August-2010.
Objectives of EC Act 2001 
  1. Provide a policy framework and direction to national energy conservation activities.
  2. Coordinate policies and programs on efficient use of energy with stakeholders. 
  3. Establish systems and procedures to verify measure and monitor EE improvements.
  4. Leverage multilateral, bilateral and private sector support to implement the EC Act.
  5. Demonstrate EE delivery systems through public-private partnerships. 
  6. To promote energy efficiency in the country.
